Don’t forget the Community Messiah Sing this coming Sunday, December 4, at 3 p.m. right here at St. John’s! Rehearsal is at 1 p.m. with music provided. The program lasts about an hour. We will be providing refreshments to all participants. Start your holiday season out with something very, very special, and join us!

For the children of the parish (and those who have a childlike perspective!), we are having a morning of merriment and fun on December 10 as we build our own gingerbread houses. Everything you will need will be provided BUT we need you to sign up on the bulletin board in the Perkins Room. Join us at 10 a.m. on that Saturday morning for a pre-Christmas treat. Donut holes and cocoa for all, as well!

Did someone ask about trees and wreaths? Our Scout troop #32 has gorgeous Christmas trees at their lot in Farmington by the fire station. And our Pack #32 will have wreaths for sale next Sunday before and after church. Help two exceptional groups and get your holiday greenery decorations from the Scouts!!

Fr. David has been asked by Bishop Lane to accept an appointment to the Disciplinary Board of the diocese. The Board oversees, among other things, issues related to clergy misconduct and malfeasance. His appointment will last for two years.

We will be celebrating the centenary birthday of Betty Phillips on Sunday, December 11, during and after the liturgy at a special Coffee Hour. There is a huge card for everyone to sign and we will fete her for her 100 years of service, commitment, loyalty and faith as an example to us all!

This year, in the absence of children, members of the choir will be completing the lighting of the Advent wreath candles before the 10 a.m. service each week. While there will be no Christmas Day service at the church, a ZOOM service will be offered from Fr. David’s home at 10 a.m. Christmas morning. A link will follow soon.

The “traditional” Christmas Eve service will be held at St. John’s on Saturday, December 24 at 4 p.m.

´╗┐Time is flying by!! We are, of course, planning for the holidays and we’re happy to share that the Annual Pecan Sale is in full swing! Grace Boudway, Queen of the Pecan Kingdom, will have them for sale again in church on Sunday, November 27. The price per pound bag is STILL $15, if you can believe it!! Grace will make alternate arrangements for pick up if you need it, so ring her up at 394-6172.

Bible Study is held every Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Vestry room, in the Education wing of the building. If it is called off, the coordinator, Mattie Bicknell, will let people know. The discussions are fascinating, so please consider stopping by!

As you should know, we in the Diocese of Rochester are searching for a bishop. Members of the Standing Committee are going to begin traveling through the diocese to meet with parishes and listen to our concerns and our hopes for the future of the diocese. This is a very important part of discernment and the more participation from us, the better. See the dates available below!!

We will continue collecting empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls for Lollipop FarmThey’ve called for our help with their influx of small animals – which has now grown to over 1,000 rodents!! A basket in the north transept has been set up for your convenience. And, if you have them, we do collect “pop tops” from aluminum soda cans for Ronald McDonald House. We actually have a little competition with our friends at First Congregational and sadly, they are much better pop top savers. Maybe we can beat them this next time.Bring you pop tops in when you can.

Please submit your long and short term prayer requests to Linda Mayton and she will be certain they get where they need to be.
