DURING LENT we will celebrate Holy Eucharist using Rite I.

 

“BOOKS SANDWICHED IN”, a current book review series at Wood Library, will feature guest speaker Dr. Peter Kane tomorrow, February 20, at noon with a program he calls, “The Gospels”, in which he discusses the gospels!

ADULT FORMATION  A Lenten series based on Donna Schaper’s 1999 book, “Sabbath Keeping”, is scheduled “Four Weeks in Lent”, March 7, 14, 21, and 28, at 6:00 p.m. Each session will begin with a light potluck supper, followed by discussion, and will conclude with a special meditation. To sign up or to order a book ($12.), please see the Rev. David Hefling.

 

THE ALTAR GUILD reports that available dates for the sanctuary candle are March 18, April 1, 15, 22, and 29. The available dates for flowers are April 15, 22, and 29. There will be no altar flowers during Lent. To choose a Sunday, please use one of the forms tacked up on the bulletin board near the front window of the reception area, or call Lisa Krapf at 394-2694.

 

ST. JOHN’S WILL HOST A SPECIAL MUSIC EVENT next Sunday, February 26! Our organist, Joong-Han Jung, will present a piano recital at 2:00 p.m., a “dry run” for his official doctoral recital at Eastman School of Music scheduled for a few days later. Instrumentalists and vocalists will also perform at the Sunday concert. Please show your support for Joong-Han by your presence; at the same time you will have a wonderful music experience!

 

  

We are saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. Betty Withington, who died February 12, the widow of Father Robert Withington who served as our rector for 17 years.

A memorial service was held yesterday in Laconia, New Hampshire, where she lived for the last 18 years.
