  1. I deeply appreciated being part of this event because of my Canadian connection. I was born and raised just across the lake and patriotism was a much more active part of my life than I think it is for American children. I found myself teary- eyed at times during the tribute to Queen Elizabeth and during the singing of the English national anthem. The love that I’d felt as a child had gone deep and superimposed on that is a great respect for the role Elizabeth has played in English life. She has helped preserve values of importance in modern times. She has helped raise morale in a populace who suffered through a devastating war and been subjected to financial challenges. She has served as titular head of the Anglican Church. It was fitting to acknowledge her work and her gifts to the public in a church service. I’m glad we did it. Long live the Queen!
